Chennai Express Finally Hits 200 Crore!

Chennai Express hits the 200 crore nett mark at the end of its third week as it grossed around 16 crore nett in its third week. The three week total for the film is around 200.75 crore nett and will become the highest grossing film ever over the weekend. Considering the huge business the film had done over the first week, a 16 crore return in week three is fantastic as it is amongst the top five highest third week collections which include films that did not start with huge collections like Barfi and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The film is looking to finish with a lifetime total in the range of 206-208 crore nett. An improvement of 20 crore nett from last years Eid release Ek Tha Tiger with 400-500 more screens and hiked ticket price. Satyagraha; Movie Reviews

Indicine:  Overall, Satyagraha manages to make a mark in your conscience because of the important issues it talks about. If you manage to overlook a few of the film’s logical loopholes, Satyagraha is definitely an entertaining social lesson. Rating: 3.5/5 Bollywood Hungama:  On the whole, SATYAGRAHA is an all-engrossing, compelling drama that mirrors the reality around us. In fact, it's yet another brilliant addition to Prakash Jha's credible repertoire, who has created some of the most politically momentous motion pictures. For the splendid drama and the electrifying dramatic highs, I suggest you must watch this hard-hitting fare. Absolutely recommended! Rating 4/5 One India:  Satyagraha is neither compelling, nor gripping. Unlike Jha's other hard-hitting political dramas, this one is too light and monotonous. The movie goes on and on with a poor script, at times testing your patience. Nothing can spare you in Satyagraha, until it concludes and you get a breat

Short Music Review: Shuddh Desi Romance

Director: Maneesh Sharma Cast: Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra & Vaani Kapoor Music Director: Sachin-Jigar Lyricist: Jaideep Sahni 1) Tere Mere Beech Mein - (Sunidhi & Mohit):  The tune is sufficiently romantic as well as quirky. The westernized arrangements makes things look even better! Sunidhi is really good in this song. Rating 3/5 2) Gulabi - (Jigar Saraiya & Priya Saraiya): Somewhere will remind you about A.R.Rahman or Amit Trivedi. An amazingly perky and lovely tune. Jigar with his career best singing. The repetitive folksy interludes is addictive. Rating 4.5/5 3) Chanchal Mann Ati Random - (Divya Kumar):  Highly energetic background. Madras Cafe Reviews

Indicine:  Madras Café is perhaps the best spy thriller ever made in Hindi cinema. It keeps its aspirations low and doesn’t overreach. The story moves along fluently and the viewer is not left out, even if they don’t have any knowledge of the time and incidents Madras Café refers to. Madras Café deserves to be seen by the ones who like dark, edgy, realistic films. Rating: 4/5 Bollywood Hungama:  On the whole, MADRAS CAFE is an earnest and honest effort, a terrific thriller, with several poignant moments and episodes that leave a stunning impact. It's a film that you should watch because it gives you an insight into an exceptionally pertinent episode of history. If you are in the frame of mind to watch superior quality, sensible cinema, I would strongly recommend MADRAS CAFE to you. Try not to miss it! Rating: 4/5 One India:  Madras Cafe is captivating, compelling and engaging throughout. It's a wake up for those filmgoers, who just look upto to a movie for some mindl

Chennai Express Blockbuster - OUATIMD Fails

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara collected 51 crore nett in its extended first week of 8 days. The collections would gave been just about respectable if it was a normal seven day week and not an extended eight day holiday week. The film has suffered on all accounts, it had a bad release, competition from a very successful film and above all the appreciation was not there.  The single screen business for the film is also mediocre but that has a lot to do with the fact the film has a bad chain of single screens. If the film had played on good single screens it could have put up decent figures especially at the muslim centres. (At Chennai Express Blockbuster Success Party, 22 August 2013) Chennai Express has grossed around 186 crore nett as it grossed 40 crore nett approx in its second week. The film has got a huge advantage of

Mumbai Mirror reveals inside details on Ekta-SRK fallout

Note: This article was first published on Mumbai Mirror. With her biggest release of the year, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara opening to a tepid box office response, Ekta Kapoor is not in a good mood these days. And the Balaji head honcho holds Shah Rukh Khan responsible for the debacle. It was reported that Ekta had refused SRK’s request for a screening of her film at Mannat and Mirror has the details of the fallout. Trouble started when SRK announced that Chennai Express will release on August 8 despite the fact that Ekta had already called dibs on Eid for the release of her ambitious project OUATIMD. Ekta tried her best to outwit SRK in this battle, even calling in a favour from MNS (Mirror report dated August 2) to make the star tow the line. Then began a long series of negotiations between her and Chennai Express’s producers, UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment. Ekta finally agreed on the other big public holiday, August 15. Accordin

This time it can't match Munni Badnam Hui, Aare Pritam Pyare or Fevicol Se but still Ok song. Short Music Review: Grand Masti

Director: Indra Kumar Cast: Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh Music Director: Anand Raj Anand Lyricist: Kumaar Indra Kumar's Masti in 2004 had some interesting music and this time he is back with Anand Raj Anand who has created some memorable songs in Kaante, Aryan, Hadh Kar Di Aap Ne 23rd March 1931 Shaheed, Bicchoo and many others.  1- Grand Masti (Title Track): Fast-paced, kind of addictive club song with some double meaning lyrics. Sanjeev Rathod, Darshan Rathod and Payal Dev are behind the mike. Rating: 2.5/5 2- Zulmi Zulmi: Hit Machine Mika Singh sings the song which is written by Manoj Darpan. While the hook "Zulmi Zulmi" saves the song, but song on the whole fails to impress. Rating: 2/5 3- Tu Bhi Mood Main:  Wajid Khan (of composer duo Sajid-Wajid) steps in as a singer along with Ritu Pathak for this song. The song has kind of nostalgic feeling, it will remind you old Anand Raj Anand Hits. Rating: 2.5/5 4- Gran

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara Reviews

Indicine:  OUATIMD is another example of commerce taking over art. The only reason this film was sanctioned was probably to cash in on the cult following of the previous film. OUATIMD does have its moments, but overall the film doesn’t work. It doesn’t come together as fluidly as it could and should have. Rating 2/5 Rajeev Masand:  This disappointing sequel to 2010’s Ajay Devgan-Emran Hashmi starrer is constructed around the premise of a love triangle…the laziest love triangle you could possibly imagine. It doesn’t help that writer Rajat Arora, as if to compensate for the flimsy plot, goes into overkill mode with wise-ass dialogues. Imran Khan as Aslam, ostensibly the hero of this film, appears ill at ease rolling those corny lines off his tongue, and resembling a rich urban kid slumming it out as a tapori at a dress-up party. Sonakshi Sinha’s Jasmine has got to be the most pea-brained woman you’ve ever met. Rating 1.5/5 Taran Adarsh:  Like I pointed out earlier, while the
