Short Music Review: Boss (2013)

Director: Anthony D'Souza
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Aditi Rao Hydari & Shiv Pandit
Music Director: Meet Bros (Track # 1,3, 6, 7), Honey Singh (Track # 4), Chirantan Bhatt (Track # 5) & Deepak
Lyricist: Kumaar, Manoj Yadav & Sahil Kaushal-Lill Gollu

1- Boss - (Meet Bros Anjan & Yo Yo Honey Singh): Pretty lackluster, massy but with "heard before"-feeling. Honey Singh is just OK. Repetitive "Boss- Hukam Ka Ikka Boss etc" can be addictive. Song is average. 0.5 extra for lyrics. Rating 2.5/5

2- Hum Na Tode - (Vishal Dadlani): Hindi remake of Vidyasagar's original 'Appadi Pode' doesn't impress much. Energetic because of Vishal's energetic singing. Rating 2/5

3- Pitah Se Hai Naam Tera - (Sonu Nigam & Meet Bros): Very ordinary track. Though Sonu Nigam tries hard and he is saving grace in the song. Composition is average. Rating 2/5

4- Party All Night - (Yo Yo Honey Singh): DJ type song with Honey Singh's drunken vocals. Nothing much to say about the song. Rating 1.5/5

5- Har Kisi Ko - (Nikhil D'Souza): Have you heard "Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta" from Jaanbaaz (1986)? Chirantan Bhatt borrows elements from orginal song, not only some lyrics, but music elements also. Though the song is likeable, not impressive. Rating 2.5/5

6- Boss Entry Theme - (Meet Brost & Sonu Kakkar): Heavy arrangements and surely it will sound good in the film like Boss, but not impressive when you just listen it without watching it on screen. Rating 2/5

7- Boss (Remix) - (Meet Bros Anjan Ankit): Not a impressive remix. Original is till better than this one. Rating 1.5/5

8- Har Kisi Ko (Version 2) - (Arijit Singh & Neeti Mohan): Increased tempo for instance and some unnaturally loud orchestration. Nothing special. Rating 2/5

NOTE: There is no must-hear song. This album is one of the "come-and-go" music albums. You'll not miss anything if you don't hear this album.

AVERAGE SCORE: 2/5

1 = Poor
2 = Average
3 = Good
4 = Very Good
5 = Excellent
