Katrina Kaif vs Deepika Padukone; Two Top Bollywood Heroines

Katrina Kaif's name alone ensures decent footfalls in theatres across India, something that she proved with a smaller film like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which released just a week after Salman Khan’s Bodyguard in 2011. For Deepika, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela was the biggest test of her career and she has succeeded without any doubt. (Read Box Office Report of Ram Leela).

Katrina Kaif started with the infamous BOOM & went on to star in a Telugu runway hit film Malliswari starring opposite Venkatesh.

Deepika Padukone started with the Kannada movie Aishwarya (unique film - first half was a copy of first half of Ghajini & second half was a copy of second half of Telugu movie Manmathudu) & went on to have a dream debut in Hindi opposite Shahrukh Khan in Om Shanti Om.

Katrina Kaif has starred opposite the megastar Mammootty in the Malayalam movie Balram vs Taradas.

Deepika Padukone has starred with one of the biggest megastar ever, Rajinikanth in the forthcoming film Kochadaiyaan.

While Katrina Kaif became a permanent member of Salman Khan camp as well as Akshay Kumar. Deepika Padukone apart from being part of Shahrukh's camp, got herself inside YRF camp. While Deepika joined YRF in 2008, Katrina followed her in 2009.

Katrina Kaif is a success story as far as Yash Raj Films are concerned. (New York, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Dhoom 3)

Deepika Padukone hasn't been that lucky for the Yash Raj camp.

Katrina Kaif is one among those actresses who has shared screen space with all the Khans - Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan & even Imran Khan. (Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Yuvraaj, Race, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Dhoom 3).

Deepika Padukone is yet to star opposite Salman Khan & Aamir Khan although she had a cameo in Main Aur Mrs.Khanna, where she shared screen space with another Khan, Sohail Khan. She has worked with Shahrukh Khan in Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express, with Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal, Race 2 Cocktail and with Imran Khan in Break Ke Baad.

Ranbir Kapoor Factor:

Katrina Kaif's pairing gave Ranbir Kapoor his first superhit (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani), while Deepika Padukone's pairing gave him his first solo Blockbuster (Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani) & also his career's first success (Bachna Ae Haseeno).

Katrina Kaif leads here as far as "special" item songs are concerned but Deepika Padukone, too isn't far behind with her hit dance numbers Love Mera Hit Hit & Dum Maaro Dum (Remix).

Katrina Kaif's last flop was in the year 2008. Her last non-hit was released in the year 2009.

Deepika Padukone's last flop was in the year 2011.
