Jai Ho; Average on Day One

Jai Ho has found it tough at the box office on day one. The multiplexes did not start that strongly and could not pick up while single screens started very well but at places there were cracks in the matinee and evening shows.

According to early estimates, the collections for the film will be around the 15-16 crore nett range, which is strictly average for a movie starring a superstar like Salman Khan. The film has suffered in the multiplexes with the lowest collections of a Salman Khan starrer since Wanted in 2009. The film has been sold for huge prices in circuits where it has been sold and figures coming in from these circuits be it Rajasthan, West Bengal or CP Berar are not proportionate to the prices that distributors have paid.

Possible reasons for this type of opening could be extreme cold & fog in North India, absence of chartbuster music, not so impressive trailer, serious social message, bad release date as it's not a festive season and lack of early promotions.

On the brighter side, the reports from theatres are really good, probably the best for a Salman Khan film since Dabangg (2010) and the film has got thumbs up from critics also (Read Here).
