BO Report: SKSE, Highway & Gunday!

Shaadi Ke Side Effects did well over its first weekend as it collected around 21 crore nett in its first weekend. This was despite the business of the film being affected by the two big cricket matches on Friday and Sunday.

The matches involving India probably hit the film for 1 crore nett on Friday and a similar amount on Sunday. A limited release in Rajasthan also meant collections in that circuit were around 60 lakhs lower than they should have been.

The film did good business in Delhi city, East Punjab and Mysore while Mumbai saw average collections and other circuits were low. All circuits including the ones which were low saw good growth on Saturday but again the cricket match meant Sunday collections did not witness much growth.

The weekend collections of the film are much higher than other multiplex films like Hasee Toh Phasee and Highway which collected approx 13 crore and 17.50 crore respectively.

Highway grossed 20.77 crore nett in week one with a distributor share of 10.25 crore approx. It was a mediocre performance despite weekdays holding well and Thursday even getting benefit of Mahashivratri.

The film was relatively better in Delhi and Punjab while in Mumbai circuit it was only Mumbai city and Pune collecting as the two centres combine gave a near 4 crore nett contribution for the circuit. Mysore was also one of the better performers but that is expected for these type of films..

The lifetime business of the film is likely to stay around 10 crore nett below Hasee Toh Phasee.  Below is the first week territorial breakdown of Highway:

Highway dropped in its second weekend as it collected 2.75-3 crore nett it its second weekend taking its ten days business to 23.75 crore nett. The drop in the second weekend is 75% plus which is the norm for films today but for a film like Highway which is depending on word of mouth the hold should be better.

The film was also affected by the cricket and Shaadi Ke Side Effects also took some business away as both films are doing there best business in the same areas.

This film will end its second with business probably around 25.50 crore nett and then may add another crore or two at best.

Gunday grossed 12.76 crore nett in its second week taking its two week total to 70.81 crore nett. The drop in the second week is 78% which is on the higher side. The third week is likely to see a bigger drop as the third weekend has seen poor performance.

The distributor share in two weeks is around 36.50 crore which is reasonable. Of the films released last year the share has crossed films like R.. Rajkumar and Aashiqui 2 but will remain below Grand Masti.

The main circuits like Mumbai, North and Central have done fairly well while South and East have not performed up to the mark. Below is the second week territorial breakdown of Gunday:
