Music Review; Main Tera Hero (2014) *Varun Dhawan - Nargis Fakhri - Ileana D'Cruz*

Director: David Dhawan
Cast: Varun Dhawan, Ileana D'Cruz & Nargis Fakhri
Music Director: Sajid Wajid
Lyricist: Kausar Munir, Kumaar, Danish Sabri

1- Besharmi Ki Height - (Benny Dayal, Shalmali Kholgade): A peppy and energetic youthful track which is already quite popular among youth. Sajid Wajid's composition is catchy, especially the hook line. After 'Ek Tuu', the usage of techno sounds is really nice. Highly appealing and enjoyable song despite the fact that lyrics are quite silly. Benny Dayal & Shalmali Kholgade own the song beautifully. Well done! Rating 4/5

2- Palat (Tera Hero Idhar Hai) - (Arijit Singh): The track is clearly an attempt to recreate the magic of 90s era when Govinda and Salman Khan were doing David Dhawan's films. Have to admit that Sajid Wajid succeeds in this mission. 'Tera Hero Idhar Hai' cleverly appropriates Pancham’s 'Jahan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai' and Pritam’s 'Dil Mein Baji Guitar' for its hook. Even the way Arijit Singh says 'Palat' is so similar to the way Sonu Nigam said it in the song 'Munda Bhi Kamal Hai' from David Dhawan's 'Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge'. Arijit Singh is in full form and has done an awesome job behind the mic with full confidence. Lyrics are good. Rating 4/5

3- Shanivaar Raati - (Arijit Singh, Shalmali Kholgade, Wajid): The track is jazz based with Punjabi touch. Total fun and masti song and has so much Govinda-ish feeling. Very interesting music arrangements and very high pitched song. Lyrics are good, just they way Lyrics used to be in Govinda's songs. Arijit Singh managed to impress us even with this type of track also. He is simply fab. Shalmali is good as usual. Rating 4/5

4- Galat Baat Hai - (Javed Ali & Neeti Mohan): This track seems to be inspired by two tracks; 'Check Dat like Dat' from 'Main Hoon Naa' and 'Second Hand Jawani' from 'Cocktail', but both are better than this one. It's not very bad, but fails to leave any impact. Jvaed Ali and Neeti Mohan are very good but it is the composition which is a problem here. Lyrics are ok. Rating 2.5/5

5- Besharmi Ki Height (Remix) - (Benny Dayal, Shalmali Kholgade): It is a usual pumping fast paced remix number. We are sure this one is going to played much in clubs and parties, but for us the original is still much much better. Rating 3/5

6- Shanivaar Raati (Remix) - (Arijit Singh, Shalmali): This remix track is quite good as it gets more energetic and groovy. If you like this kind of remix sons, you can't afford to miss this one. Rating 4/5

NOTE: For us who grew up watching David Dhawan's comedies, this album is a treat as it takes us to that era we used to sing and dance on those songs, but we are quite sure that present generation is going to like this soundtrack also as Sajid Wajid managed to give it a fresh feeling. The tracks are not going to stay with you for a very long time, but were we expecting some classy stuff for David Dhawan's masala comedy? ;-)
