Bhoothnath Returns picked up well over the weekend to have a fair weekend total of around 16.50 crore nett. The film had good growth on Saturday and Sunday but the problem was day one as it has been for practically all films this year.
If the film could have shown this sort of a growth from a 20-25% better first day it would have been a totally different story for the film. Now the film is dependent on how well it can sustain over the weekdays and second week.
The best business for the film was in Mumbai while Delhi/UP showed very good growth over the weekend. The film should have a strong Monday enabling it to put up a decent first week total.
Main Tera Hero grossed around 6.75 crore nett in its second weekend which is good trending as the drop is just 70% from its first weekend but the first weekend had underperformed.
The film has done its best business in Gujarat followed by Rajasthan. The second week figures should surpass 10 crore nett which is a decent total considering the competition of Bhoothnath Returns which picked up after a low start.
Main Tera Hero should do around 50 crore nett lifetime business which is pretty good and the film will be a semi hit if it goes to around 50 crore nett.
Disco Singh grossed fantastic numbers in Punjab over the weekend setting the second highest weekend ever for a Punjabi film. Disco Singh grossed a huge 3.10 crore nett in East Punjab circuit over its first weekend. The record is held by Jatt and Juliet 2 which was 3.87 crore nett last year.
The third and fourth highest figures are 2.28 and 2.26 crore nett respectively of Jatt and Juliet and Best Of Luck and there is a huge gap between these films and Disco Singh. Disco Singh has grossed 35% more over the weekend than these films.
There is a holiday for Baisakhi today so no doubt the business will be excellent. The film is certain to be amongst the top four Punjabi grossing films ever even in a worst case scenario. There is a big Punjabi release on 25th April so that will halt its run.
If the film remains solid after the second week and goes over 10 crore nett for lifetime business then it will mean that the biggest actor/director combination ever in Punjabi cinema Diljit Dosanjh and Anurag Singh will have the all time three highest grossing films ever in Punjabi cinema.
